South Carolina is the second-most-dangerous place to live in the country.
Only Washington, DC has a higher violent crime rate.
Our state led the Nation with a dismal 788 violent crimes per 100,000 people in 2007. The national rate was 467 crimes per 100,000 people. Violent crimes include murder, forcible rape, robbery and aggravated assault.
Imagine what those numbers mean in terms of
pain and suffering for the victims affected by crime.
Our Vision:
All victims in South Carolina will be supported, honored and empowered to achieve justice.
SCVAN advocates for all crime victims and those who serve them to ensure they have the help and resources they need.
