Victim Assistance Program Services
- Information and explanation about the criminal justice
system and its procedures.
- Ensure that the rights of all victims are being met.
- Notification of the court schedule and the status of each case.
- Orientation to Courtroom procedures and setting.
- Accompaniment to court, during, and after the trial or plea,
or for post-sentencing hearings.
- Moral and emotional support before, during, and after the trial
or plea, or for post-sentencing hearings.
- Assist eligible victim in preparing Victim Compensation forms
and processing with the Division of Victim's Assistance.
- Assist victims in preparing and obtaining an Order of Protection.
- Property recovery assistance for items being held as evidence
by the police.
- Employment intervention to explain time missed from work due to
any court appearances.
- Referrals to Social Service Agencies, counselors, or others who
can assist with emergency needs or personal problems.
- Assistance with any victim's problems or anxieties resulting from
the crime.
- Counseling referrals to help victims cope with the aftermath of a
crime.
- Assistance in completing an Impact Statement.
