Welcome to SCVAN! What Can We Do To Help?

South Carolina is the second-most-dangerous place to live in the country.

Only Washington, DC has a higher violent crime rate.

Our state led the Nation with a dismal 788 violent crimes per 100,000 people in 2007.  The national rate was 467 crimes per 100,000 people. Violent crimes include murder, forcible rape, robbery and aggravated assault.

Imagine what those numbers mean in terms of

pain and suffering for the victims affected by crime.

For over twenty years, the South Carolina Victim Assistance Network’s mission has been:

  • to insure crime victims receive access to, and assistance from, the criminal and juvenile justice system, and related social service providers -
  • to improve the quality of services provided to all crime victims -
  • to insure the criminal justice system adequately serves crime victims.

On this website, you will find information about programs we offer to help crime victims, videos, books, and other research to help you understand the criminal justice process, victims' rights and laws, and resources available to enhance victim service programs.

We are here to help!  (888) 852-1900
